College Board
The College Board reference explains a common 4.0 calculation and warns that it may not reproduce a student's true school GPA. Its guidance also distinguishes weighted and unweighted GPA.

For GPA records, common App documentation demonstrates that the reported scale and weighting status are separate fields. Its direct-admissions guidance uses 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 and 100 scales and treats offers as conditional on record review.
