How the average is built
Each grade point is multiplied by the course credits.
Those quality points are summed and divided by total attempted credits. This weighted average is the standard structure used by many GPA calculations, although grade values and inclusion rules vary.

Repeated and excluded courses
For GPA records, do not assume a repeated or forgiven course disappears. Policies differ.
LSAC, for example, can include grades and credits for repeated courses when they remain on the transcript. Follow the policy for the calculation you are trying to reproduce.
