When international evaluation is required
For GPA records, some institutions ask applicants not to self-convert. Others require a credential evaluation or provide a country-specific table. Follow the application instructions and use an evaluator such as WES only when the receiving organization accepts that method.
Report the native result too
Write the estimate as “3.40/4.0 proportional estimate from 8.5/10,” not simply “3.40 GPA.” The longer label prevents an estimate from being mistaken for an issued grade.
CGPA terminology varies
CGPA can mean cumulative grade point average, but the underlying scale and course rules still come from the issuing institution.
A 7.5 CGPA must be paired with its 10-point maximum before a proportional GPA estimate is possible. The term CGPA alone does not identify a universal conversion table.
Credential evaluation is a separate workflow
International credential evaluation may examine the institution, program level, transcript key, course credits, and grading distribution. A proportional CGPA calculation uses only the value and maximum, so it cannot reproduce that review. The displayed GPA estimate is useful for planning, not for replacing an evaluator's report.
Preserve the source notation
Write the source notation as 7.5/10 CGPA before recording the 3.00/4 proportional estimate. The paired notation shows which number came from the transcript and which number came from the calculator. That distinction remains important when an application asks for the native CGPA.
