For GPA records, the converter assumes the scales are proportional.
That makes the arithmetic consistent and inspectable, but real grading systems often use grade bands, subject rules and institutional adjustments. A 70% in one system is not automatically equivalent to 2.8 everywhere. The GPA label stays explicit in this method record.

GPA converter: Choose the correct maximum
Use the maximum for the GPA field on the transcript, not the highest GPA attained by a student in the class. Common App, for example, distinguishes the reported GPA scale from weighting information. A weighted 4.6 can legitimately exceed 4.0 when the school's scale allows bonus points.
